Respect the essential quality criteria:
defence and restoration of biodiversity, social development, CO2 capture, education.
Make a long-term commitment
(at least 5 years) to guarantee the maturity and autonomy of the ecosystems
IMAGINE WAS BORN OUT OF THE RECOGNITION BY SCIENTISTS THAT PRESERVING AND REGENERATING FORESTS IS ONE OF THE MOST ACCESSIBLE AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR RESTORING ECOSYSTEMS, SAFEGUARDING BIODIVERSITY AND COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE, WHILE REDUCING OUR ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT.
of the IMAGINE movement
is to be a DO-TANK
IMAGINE is neither
nor an association,
nor a foundation.
It is a collaborative approach of contribution, because only collective action and millions of connected efforts will allow us to see a global benefit.
ACCORDING TO SCIENTISTS 1 BILLION HECTARES OF FOREST
could capture up to 30% of human-induced CO2 in the atmosphere.
This would help reduce the level of CO2 in the atmosphere by 25% - the equivalent of 2/3 of all emissions generated by humans since the onset of the industrial revolution.
And of course, there are all the other services that forests provide, including the emission of oxygen, maintaining the water supply, protecting biodiversity and job creation.
projects ALL OVER THE WORLD
To help you take concrete action right now, here are some examples of reforest'action projects and projects currently being financed by members of the imagine movement
OBJECTIVES: Create forest-gardens and restore mangroves. The mangrove will protect the villages from rising water levels and prevent coastal erosion
SURFACE TO BE RESTORED: 210 hectares
OBJECTIVES : Afforestation of a desert area in South Iceland - the least forested country in Europe - to prevent soil erosion and promote biodiversity
SURFACE TO BE RESTORED : 20 hectares
OBJECTIVES : Restoration of mangroves to preserve biodiversity, combat climate change, protect coastlines from rising sea levels, and participate in the economic development of local communities
RESTORED SURFACE : 12 hectares
OBJECTIVES : Development of agroforestry, restoration of a classified ouest, preservation of biodiversity, economic, development of the populations
