AN ACHIEVABLE
target
OUR GOAL:
TO BRING AN ADDITIONAL 1 BILLION HECTARES
OF FOREST TO THE PLANET ON AN AVAILABLE AREA EQUIVALENT
TO THE SIZE OF THE USA.
ALONG WITH REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT.
Only through collective action on a very large scale can we achieve this target and have a significant impact.
join
the movement
WOULD YOU LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS TARGET?
3 WAYS TO JOIN THE MOVEMENT
01.
Communicate the urgency and recruit new members in your networks and among your stakeholders, by using in your name the words of our call to action..
02.
Fund the restoration or creation of forests on the ground (within your means), via the movement and account for progress in a rigorous manner.
03.
Link your existing forest restoration or creation projects with those of the movement to join forces and connect our efforts.
If you fund projects:
Respect the essential quality criteria:
defence and restoration of biodiversity, social development, CO2 capture, education.
Make a long-term commitment
(at least 5 years) to guarantee the maturity and autonomy of the ecosystems
A shared
core belief
IMAGINE WAS BORN OUT OF THE RECOGNITION BY SCIENTISTS THAT PRESERVING AND REGENERATING FORESTS IS ONE OF THE MOST ACCESSIBLE AND EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR RESTORING ECOSYSTEMS, SAFEGUARDING BIODIVERSITY AND COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE, WHILE REDUCING OUR ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT.
The innovation
of the IMAGINE movement
is to be a
DO-TANK
IMAGINE is neither
an NGO,
nor an association,
nor a foundation.
It is a collaborative approach of contribution, because only collective action and millions of connected efforts will allow us to see a global benefit.
ACCORDING TO SCIENTISTS
1 BILLION
HECTARES OF FOREST
could capture up to 30% of human-induced CO2 in the atmosphere.
This would help reduce the level of CO2 in the atmosphere by 25% - the equivalent of 2/3 of all emissions generated by humans since the onset of the industrial revolution.
And of course, there are all the other services that forests provide, including the emission of oxygen, maintaining the water supply, protecting biodiversity and job creation.
projects
ALL OVER THE WORLD
To help you take concrete action right now, here are some examples of reforest'action projects and projects currently being financed by members of the imagine movement
OBJECTIVES: Reduction of deforestation through agroforestry, restoration of degraded forest areas, creation of edible forest gardens within protected reserves
SURFACE TO BE RESTORED:
170 hectares
OBJECTIVES: Afforestation of agricultural wasteland to halt the desertification of grasslands
RESTORED SURFACE:
891 hectares
OBJECTIVES: Improve biodiversity by allowing the return of beneficial insects and animals with the aim of reducing chemical inputs; enhance the landscape; improve the quality of vines
RESTORED SURFACE :
6.5 hectares
OBJECTIVES: Strengthen local biodiversity, enhance the landscape and encourage a positive, innovative project in the Cognac region through the creation of a micro-forest
RESTORED SURFACE : 580 m2
KEY INDICATORS OF OUR projects:
Climate
Tonnes of CO2 stored.
Biodiversity
Number of hectares protected or restored.
sOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Number of people positively impacted.
EducaTion
Number of people taught about forest conservation.
